Liatoshynskyi Capella: Choir of the National House of Music performed the choral piece "Maidan 2014" by Valentin Silvestrov.
"Maidan 2014" is a large cycle of 15 numbers for an a cappella choir and soloists, in which Valentyn Silvestrov embodied his own experiences of the events of the Revolution of Dignity, as well as observations of changes in Ukrainian society during this period.
In the work, the composer uses the poetry of Pavel Chubynskyi and Taras Shevchenko, canonical Latin ("Agnus Dei", "Lacrimosa", "Requiem aeternam") and Church Slavonic ("Holy God", "With the saints rest in peace", "Our Father") texts .
Valentin Silvestrov dedicated two pieces to the fallen participants of the Revolution of Dignity - Serhiy Nigoyan and Mykhailo Zhiznevskyi.

Valentin Silvestrov (1937) is a Ukrainian composer of contemporary classical music, increasingly regarded as one of the finest composers of his generation.
Using traditional tonal and modal techniques, Silvestrov creates a unique and delicate tapestry of dramatic and emotional textures, qualities which Silvestrov suggests are otherwise sacrificed in much of contemporary music.
