about

"Requiem for Larissa" (1997-1999) is a work for mixed choir, soloists (alto, tenor) and symphony orchestra. Written in 7 parts, based on canonical Latin texts and Taras Shevchenko's poetry.

Larissa Bondarenko, a beloved wife, died in 1996. This was a great shock for the composer. He then even declared that he was putting an end and would write his last work as a dedication, about the creative path they had taken together.

"I thought this would be the last work. I can't listen to him. The requiem was performed several times at concerts. I asked not to do this again. It is impossible to listen and then go on stage and bow."...

Today we publish for the first time a piano esquisse for "Requiem for Larissa" recorded by the composer at home during 1997-99.
